I remember all the AI Experts, Knowledge Engineers, and LISP programmers have their special place in the work place.
Then they were suddenly be without work and their LISP machines being sold as excess and the LISP machine companies going bankrupt or become only a software company.
All those AI Experts, Knowledge Engineers, and LISP programmers had to cross train to the jobs that were available.
I would suggest you get your “Computer Science” degree.
Do study probability, statistics, linear algebra, combinatorics , and other math. The mathematic foundations of computer science are useful and important not only in AI and ML but other areas as well.
Do take some courses in AI and ML. Please do learn LISP, Prolog, and Machine Learning. Do understand what they can do.
But also study and master the rest of the Computer Science curriculum.
