Losing 10 points on an IQ test means losing enough of the capacity for abstract thought and problem solving that would result in a 10-pt decrease in an IQ test.
That would be annoying. I’ve never taken a proper IQ test, so I don’t know for sure where I’m at. But I’ve often felt that I’d like to think a bit quicker, and more than once I’ve been sick or chronically short on sleep enough to notice a reduced ‘IQ’ equivalent.

The first thing I do is build a machine that automatically makes my hand push the button (I'm assuming it has to be me directly touching the button and not a robot, or anyone else). Why? Because I'm briefly going to be brain dead.
Before we start, I believe my IQ is somewhere around 120, based on a variety of online IQ tests (yes I know those ones), average grades in school, admittance to gifted and talented programs early in life, and anecdotal evidence.

Right, so, IQ is based on the concept of “mental age” as measured by your score on a test. You calculate a person’s “mental age”, divide it by their actual age, and then multiply the result by 100.
So what would it have to mean for an IQ to be negative? Hard to tell.

For the purpose of this hypothetical, I will round that number up, giving me an IQ of 130.

Based on that, I can safely lose 50 IQ points, giving me an IQ of 80, and still be within a normal IQ range, though that would make me noticeably more dull. However, that would give me 50 million dollars. Not accounting for how that would affect my ability to interact with people, and my personality, I’d do a lot worse in school, and probably would not be able to hold a very academically demanding job. That would not matter though, given that I would now be the proud owner of a nice fifty million.

In conclusion, I’d say I would be willing to press the button twice. I’d say most people could afford to press the button once or twice as well, provided they are of average IQ to begin with. Hitting the button any more than that would probably also compromise one’s ability to enjoy the money they gain anyway.
