The patient somehow climbed out of an eighth floor window of a hospital and sat on the edge of a cornice on the eighth floor of the building where he was undergoing treatment. The patient identified as Sudhir Adhikari was mentally unstable. He was in depression and was mentally ill.
In India mental illness does n0ot exist. If a person appears mentally bonkers then parents think, giving two tight slaps and one solid racket hit will make them alright. In India people try to keep safe distance from someone who is depressed. People think sitting with & talking to a mentally unhealthy person could deteriorate the mental health of a healthy person.
It is sad that a young lad lost his life due to mental illness.

Some indian families abandon mentally challenged people. We can find many mentally challenged people roaming on the streets and begging just because their families are not ready to own them.

Mental illness is a taboo. My friend's distant older cousin has schizophrenia and her doctors strictly advised her against marriage and children cause she will never be able to have a normal relationship. Her old parents are constantly taunted for not marrying her off .Some even suggested them to hide her medical history and marrying her off to anyone so she will not be their 'burden'.Such people do not mind ruining an innocent life.
Lone Wolf to Stella Mcartney
My mom had schezophrenia during marriage which caused divorce and we children spent our childhood without a mother.I would highly advice anyone with similar problem to marry only if they are treated properly.Otherwise lot of people will be miserable instead of just one person.

In our country people are maniacs and they need serious education regarding mental health. They need to be humble towards people suffering mental disease but they lack moral sense. All they can do is gossip and misbehave with people suffering from mental disorder.
Rupali Rajopadhye
I disagree. There's a mental patient in our locality. He is highly educated, knows many languages, is from a well to do family. He had his heart broken and lost his mind. But I think people care for him and still respect him too. He doesn't bathe for days, spends days and nights on the streets, verbally abuses people if they do something he doesn't like, but his family and household helps bring him home every now and then to care for him, people in the locality talk to him when he is in mood to talk, feed him when he is okay with eating, because if he's not in mood and someone tries to feed him or talk to him, he showers them with a barrage of verbal abuses. People take the verbal abuses patiently and still try to feed him the next time. They know he's moody but good at heart. He cleans local temples (those miniscule, under the tree shrines and temples) and abuses those who throw packets & bottles on the streets. He throws rocks at vehicles that spew a lot of smoke from their exhaust. Some people who don't know him, get angry at the stone pelting and verbal abuses, but locals come to diffuse the situation and protect him.

Right, in India mental health is least discussed in house hold . No one talks about mental health in my home, it's like it's nothing at all, there is no such things like depression, mental pressure etc. khana mat do 2 din, slaps etc would treat everything . I hope we are the last generation facing it. Next generation would surely be well aware about it and keep it at priority.
Rajat Joshi
If he was really mentally ill then I dont think he would have wasted 3 hours before jumping off that building, he was surely suffering from severe depression and thought of committing suicide must have appeared in his mind several times before that fateful day. You dont treat people with severe depression who are having thoughts of self harm and even suicide as mental illness. As a matter of fact that man was put into mentally ill hopsital shows the f**ked up state of our country when it comes mental healthcare. May his soul finally find peace, my thoughts and prayers are with his family.
