'Junk the vestiges of the colonial era'. Seems lofty, but the very formation, structure of the Indian armed forces are Still following the British. The military ranks, the divisions, the structure are still what the British left us. Instead of Corporal, we have Naiks, nas Subedar Naiks, but most other ranks are still the same...including the stars etc. My thoughts are this: It does not demean India IF we follow the Best of the Brit. military, and the miltary academies. Seriouslly though - Just because they was from the colonial era, doens't make them demeaning for india to continue using them. We still follow the so many things the Briast left us...Railways, rails, airlines, the constitution, judiciary, heck even our democracy and political system. Why the heck are so sensitive?...and we still use the English language. We can certainly develop our our own knowledge, and military tacticts used in India.

Social media has drawn attention to the fact that successive Indian administrations have prioritised spending heavily on the import of equipment and supersonic fighter jets, despite the fact that the Indian Army has not physically manned a border in the past 54 years and continues to be mired in controversy over odd practises. However, the 28 members of the European unx used to participate in actual border exercises, whether it was Syria, Afghanistan, Vietnam, and Ukraine are particularly frugal when it comes to importing weaponry. The orderly and peon culture was to belittle Indians during british era which in their own countries don't exist. The divide between subordinate services and IAS / Officers is another area that need to change seriously. In their own country the Bureaucracy is designed very differently and is very much service and policy oriented rather than red-tape.
