Why aren't Koreans called 'white' when they have whiter skin than Americans?

Eyes can be deceiving. Many Asians use a lot of make up/ skin care products a lot of them make your skin lighter combine that with most East Asian women avoiding the sun like the plague and they give a wrong impression. They have a golden hue to them, which ironically makes their racial color the most accurate. White people are not really white and black people are brown. Asians are yellowish at least a bit.

Spot on! East Asians generally have wheatish/light golden skin/light-medium skin with warm tones.
So light skin with cool/rosy undertones (which most pale Europeans have) is technically paler than light wheatish skin because rosy pale skin sunburns more easily and never tans very dark unlike wheatish/golden skin.
Japanese and Koreans in general are white . Actually their skin is more fair then Europeans. Even Chinese have white skin. Just because they have asian facial features don't take away from their whiteness.
The term “white” in western countries is mostly used to refer a common ethnic origin between Indo-European groups, not necessarily used to describe someone's skintone, in that case we will use “pale” or “fair” skin.
The term has changed throughout history, during early colonial times in America, only germanic descent protestant people like English, German, Dutch, Scandinavian, etc.. were called white.

Imagine how silly that Irish being the palest skinned nation in the world were not considered white, Slavic people are also pale and once were excluded from being white.
East Asians are almost as far from Indo-Europeans as Black Africans, So despite being also a light skinned group of people they are not considered “white” in a racial sense. Koreans belong to the Mongoloid group, with southern Chinese and siberian origins.
Some modern east Asians have traces of ancient Indo-European ancestors, like certain minorities in China and Korea. But due to social marginalization ,they are being absorbed by the dominant ethnicities.

To me “white” people are those who have light skin. It has nothing to do with your nationality (which is what your passport says) or even your original race classification (originally 3 major biological races - negroid, mongoloid, caucasian). Caucasians are not necessarily “white” skinned for example see US supreme court cases that vary regarding whether Middle Eastern people and Indians (from India) are Caucasians or not (some cases say yes they are Caucasian and others say no). Think of it this way, original race classifications were purely biological not political like today. So, if you were do find the skeleton of some person dead for two hundred years and examine it, could you tell if it was female or male (yes), could you tell if they were african, far eastern, or Caucasian (yes), all based on bone structure etc. These days since the classical races have mixed so much it would be difficult to tell what category some human skulls etc belong to, but originally race class was based on skeletal biology not skin color. Skin color is political. I mean is an albino a white person?
The concept of "white", as a race, emerges in 1781 from the hand of Johann Friedrich Blumenbach, who proposed the denomination Caucasian race for the European population, and developed the hypothesis according to which light-skinned people would have originated or dispersed in the cold lands of the Caucasus mountains. Around 1855, Joseph Arthur de Gobineau, in his Essay on the Inequality of Human Races, argued that the Nordic race was the best of all; he denied the existence of the white race, and said that mixing with other groups was detrimental, as this would degenerate "racial purity".
Today there is a broad scientific consensus that there are no human races in a biological sense.
Koreans aren’t called “white” because “white” means “descended from indigenous Europeans (and sometimes their close cousins, middle easterners and northern Africans, depending who you ask)”. It doesn’t actually have much to do with your skin color; that’s just how the language developed. ;)
And anyway, I’m pretty sure there are both dark and fair Koreans, judging by the character designs you see in all their adorable little romance webcomics that I definitely don’t read. ;)
Koreans aren’t Caucasians just as a typical Scottish person can’t be called an Asian. America is made out of many races and ethnicities. A Korean can be an American. The US is much more mixed and diverse than South Korea. Roughly 70% of Americans are Caucasian. 30% are not.
Koreans are not classified as white due to ethnic and racial classifications based on cultural, historical, and geographical factors rather than just skin color. The term "white" in a racial context is typically used to describe people of European descent, not based on skin tone alone. Although some Koreans may have lighter skin, they are categorized racially as East Asian. Skin color varies widely among individuals, and the term "white" in this context refers to ethnicity rather than just skin color. um excuse me? “Whiter skin than Americans?” There are black Americans, white Americans, Yellowish Americans, brown Americans, and a ton of other colors. Americans are all different colors, unless you’re talking about native Americans who are in general brown-ish. Make a question that makes sense please
Americans come in all different colors so if you added them all together they would probably be darker than most Koreans which are more homogeneous but they aren’t considered white.
In my humble view, Americans need to stop with the race obsession.
If you still want to be race obsessed, there are a few more permutations to consider, such as:
I live in Korea, mum is Korean, dad is American. Am I white or Asian?
My mum and dad are both Korean, came to the US, had me in the US. I grew up in the US, consider myself American. Am I white or Asian or something else?
All racists struggle with these sorts of questions. Don’t be a racist. Treat people as individuals. Judge people by the content of their character.
Well many East Indians are darker or are as dark as a lot of African Americans. Yet, no one calls East Indians black.
It comes down to who came to America first. Europeans and Sub-Saharan Africans came to America before Koreans or Indians or other groups did so they’re called white and black even if other groups overlap with European and African skin tones.
Koreans have the ability to show their tan gift. But maybe some cannot tan at all.
