It’s not considered disrespectful here.
Yes, you’re free to eat spaghetti - and any non-Chinese food - with chopsticks without anyone here caring about whether it’s disrespectful or not.
At the end of the day, we’re a pragmatic people - whichever eating utensil that’s easiest, most convenient for you, you go with that.
Whatever works for you!
It’s the same when it comes to eating Chinese food at Chinese restaurants.
You don’t want to use chopsticks?
No worries!
Here’s a fork, knife, and Western spoon.
Enjoy your meal, folks!
Plenty of people in other parts of the world eat Chinese food without ever touching a pair of chopsticks.
Just tell the wait staff at the Chinese restaurant, and they’ll be happy to give you a fork, knife, and Western spoon to start tucking in with gusto.
Eating spaghetti with chopsticks is too… mundane.
It’s too common here.
Again, whatever works best for everyone.
We can use chopsticks with penne and bolognese.

Conclusion:
Here, you’re free to eat spaghetti - and any non-Chinese food - with chopsticks without worrying about anyone thinking it’s disrespectful.
Whatever works best for you!
All chips are best eaten with chopsticks.
Years ago, I saw someone ate a piece of bread in China and I was aghast with such “behaviour”. As I spent more time in China, I came to realize that it is the most hygienic way to doing so. No need to wash your hands before and after.

the same is true even if one uses his hand, so it’s a wash, isn’t it?

My game changer is eating potato chips (crisps) with chopsticks. It doesn’t dirty your hands and you don’t have to worry about germs if you used the remote of touched the dog or something.
Haven’t found an alternative yet, it’s just amazing.
I would like to ask a different question:
Is it disrespectful to ask a stupid question trying to embarrass someone from another culture?
Chopsticks work great on salads too!

With my ex GF, we ate her birthday cake with chopsticks because she did not have any forks in her modest apartment.
We cut her cake with a Chinese cleaver because she did not have any small knives either.
Hahaha

You eat with hands and nobody cares.
Yeah, chopsticks are really useful when I don't want get my hands dirty.
One time I had friends over and I brought out some snacks that are essentially Cheetos Puffs, but in small bowls with chopsticks so that we would get the game controllers dirty.
I can only eat with chopsticks with a bowl. When it comes to a plate, I need forks and spoon.
I seen Asians(Chinese, Korean, Japanese) people use chopsticks to eat with anything and everything. I seen them eat with a salad or french fries or whatever. I am just impress to see their skills improve

For some foods, you may need to cut them beforehand. Like steak. Otherwise, as a French, I like using chopsticks better than a fork most of the time. It's actually annoying to have to use a fork and knife, and switch hands for the fork all the time. Better precut everything and use chopsticks.
Is it disrespectful to eat Chinese food with forks? I assume most people would say “no.” In fact, in many non-western restaurant I visited in and out of the western world, may it be Chinese, Japanese, Vietnam food or Thai food, when requested the staff will happily provide fork and knife. I once took my colleagues to a hole-in-the-wall place in Beijing, the kind of place with no English menu. When requested, the staff bring out fork and knife. Many places prepare forks not just for occasional foreigners, but for children or elderly who have difficulty using chopsticks.
So if it isn’t considered disrespectful for an Italian to eat Chinese food with fork and knife, I hope Italian people wouldn’t mind we use chopsticks to eat spaghetti.
(Americans have no say in this matter).
Italian here: go ahead. Eat with chopstik. Eat with a fork. Eat with your bare hands. Whatever.
Just DON’T salt water before boiling!

I saw another answer to this question in which the OP literally just said that “It’s stupid! Spaghetti should be eaten with a spoon and a fork!” and I’m thinking to myself Sir, you need to calm down. East Asians visiting the West are spending their hard earned money in your country. They can damn well eat pasta however they like and if they want to break out a pair of personal chopsticks they brought from back home, they are allowed to enjoy doing so.
It’s honestly the same conversation to be had about speaking English versus speaking someone’s native language. That immigrant or that foreign tourist probably knows more languages and knows more English vocabulary than an ignorant Westerner who can only speak English.
I do eat spaghetti with with chopsticks, and anything else bite sized. I’m not Asian. I’m a New Yorker.
The only way to eat anything is as God intended, with your bare hands (Just kidding I am Indian)
Many historians believe that spaghetti originated in China and was brought to Italy by Marco Polo. There are also arguments to be made that it originated with ancient Etruscans or Greeks. There shouldn't be any concern about disrespecting Italians.
Totally agree and actually on the contrary, chopsticks are super efficient while eating salad! You get to pick whatever you want and without worrying on how to penetrate the leaves with forks and stuff…

It's not disrespectful, but it may be unconventional depending on the cultural context. it's important to be mindful of cultural norms and etiquette when dining, but experimenting with different utensils can also be a fun and respectful way to appreciate diverse culinary traditions.

You go ahead and eat that shit any way you like! Matter o’, I believe chopsticks would be the most appropriate way to eat it as the chingos invented the shit in the first place and the greasy wops stole it from them.

No, just ridiculous. Why would you do that? To show your utter inability to keep spaghetti cooked “al dente” between two trembling pieces of wood, and being washed up with the sauce at the same time?
