@blackdogadonis people do realize that we learn more from "failure" then from success, this is just the beginning. This didn't go as planned, but it was a success getting to this point non the less. This is just one test out of many. I'm definitely looking forward to Elon Musk's mission to get humanity into space

Absolutely agree! People need to shift their perspective—this wasn’t a failure at all, but rather a successful test to identify the maximum threshold capacity. It’s a win in terms of progress and understanding limits. Now, the question is: how will this new data shape future advancements?

Would be more appropriate in a theoretical worst case, where the booster is near the tower and the chopsticks missed the booster. But still, using the word docking does not sound right for catching something out of the air.

And remember that the ship was using an older version of the heat shield tiles, with 2100 of them totally removed as a test, and was at an increased angle of entry to further stress the craft, and it STILL managed to get back for a sea touch down. We haven't yet heard if the catch was aborted due to a problem with the booster or the catch tower. The tower is more expensive and time consuming to build than the boosters, of which they have several ready to go, so this is also a possibility that something failed on the tower which prevented a catch attempt.
