I think you must be colour blind, I have seen a lot of Chinese but never ever a yellow skinned one, plenty of tan ones some even very white, never yellow, so don’t know what sort of Chinese your talking about, maybe ones in your fantasy?
so tell me which is the yellow one?
they look just like anyone else to me,

That’s my Chinese sister in-law, does she look yellow to you? Your definitely colourblind,

Elizabeth Anne Liddell
Yup… all gorgeous creamy/biege/tan based skin tones in everyone there.

Frank Cheung
Wow, your sister-in-law is very attractive, I guess your wife must be too.

Peter Kaye
What do you think? Admittedly this was quite a few years ago,

Seeto Yunguang
WOW!
THAT’S ALL I CAN SAY!!!

Frank Cheung
Yes, she’s very pretty. I visited Taiwan in December 1968 and although I met a lot of pretty girls in Taipei I do not speak Mandarin, only Cantonese, so being pragmatic I decided to marry a Cantonese wife from Hong Kong. It is the best decision I ever made, we are now married for 55 years.

Yellow was coined by the West.

i think you are laughing at me

Peter Kaye
Not laughing, just perplexed, that people even think like that,

Yellow the colour in this case has less to do with relationship between the skin colour of a Chinese person beheld and the health of the eyes of the beholder than with the conditioning of the mind of the beholder by the Yellow Peril prejudices still firmly, if subtly, embedded in popular Western culture and its context of Orientalism (Edward Said 1978). I hasten to add here that my intention here is to shed light on the subject matter, not to generate heat.
A struggling journalist, Arthur Henry/Sarfield Ward (1883-1959)], writing in 1912 under the pen name of ‘Sax Rohmer’ for ‘readers who had never seen a real Chinese person,’ described Dr Fu Manchu, the fictional character he created, as “the yellow peril incarnate in one man.” From the novels and stories of Dr Fu Manchu sprang over time the cultural origins of the Yellow Peril in U.K. and U.S.A. in both senses of the phrase: Chinese immigration and Chinese belligerence/expansionism.
May I recommend the serious and solid study on the role of popular culture in diffusing orientalist prejudices, reinforcing stereotypes, and case studies from or about China , The Yellow Peril: Dr Fu Manchu and the Rise of Chinaphobia (London: Hudson and Thames, 2014) by Dr Christopher Fraying, Professor Emeritus of Cultural History since 2009 at Royal College of Art, London, U.K.

Will your wife be jealous for using her sister pic and not her?

Peter Kaye
Why? They get on very well together, Karen is very proud of her, they talk for hours on the phone regularly no jealousy there at all,

Did your wife know you are using her sister picture?

Peter Kaye
She was the one that suggested it.

Yet, it appears that Asian nations carry the psychological self-hatred imposed by the west by placing a high value on whiter skin and European physical features.

Isaac Muhammad
whiter-fairer skin has always been in the desire of the Asian women even before the first European contact. It is the features such as the nose job, and double eyelid, and wearing blue contacts is wear the European comes into play.

Robert Dashang
I don't know about other parts of Asia, but it is a tradition in East Asia to regard white as beauty, and it has been since ancient times. White skin means that you have money and don't have to work, so you face less ultraviolet rays. And the poor need to work, so the more skin is exposed to ultraviolet rays, the darker it is. It is essentially a class worship. In ancient times, the west also regarded white as beauty, and their aesthetic trend of taking wheat color as beauty appeared very late; In order to show that westerners are upper-class people who have money to enjoy the sunshine on the beach, they have formed the aesthetic of wheat color, which is also a class worship in essence. The West has changed from the ancient beauty of white to the aesthetic stage of wheat color, but China has not changed.

Maybe you cannot see the ‘biege/cream/tan’ undertone to the Chinese skin… but we ‘pale blue/translucent/white Scottish people can.

good to know there are Chinese with darker complexions, you never see them on tv, all the ones shown are very lighter like on the right pictures…

Nancy Liew
The very dark skinned man and woman appearing on the top left and bottom left pictures are not Chinese. Even if Chinese are dark skinned they are never so dark unless they are of mixed race or belong to the ethnic minority tribes. Their facial features are also not Chinese. They look South East Asian.

Abe Zaid
Okay, somebody made up those comparisons pictures then. I was very struck cuz all Chinese shown on tv are very light, Almost white whether peasants or not.
you’re right, the darker faces are typically south east Asia, maybe even philipinos ,
