Because China may be the best long term hope for our species and perhaps all life on this planet. My casual observation is that China has the capacity to delay immediate gratification and work toward sustainable solutions. Not universally, but generally. Among world powers they seem to be one of the adults in the room while the former sole superpower has just shit itself and crawled into a corner to mumble gibberish and drool. China can’t depend on cast-off and pilfered tech from abroad when those sources don’t even seem concerned in their own best interests anymore. China needs to take care of itself in order to take care of us all.
